Greater Works Conference

The Greater Works Conference will be held April 24th – April 26th,  each evening from 8:00pm – 9:00pm join us with guest speaker Dr. Terrance Grant-Malone from St. John Baptist Church in Houston, Texas.

The Greater Works Conference classes will begin each evening at 6:45pm until 7:45pm, please see the available course descriptions below:

 


Course Descriptions – Adults

Introduction to the Bible – Its Purpose & Origin

Pastor Geoffrey Guns – Instructor

Course provided with information about politics, geography, language, and biblical background information that will enable the student to have a better understanding of the Bible.

 

Paul’s Prison Letters

Minister Avis Nichols – Instructor

Cover the teaching of Paul from the books of 1 and 2 Thessalonians, Galatians, 1 and 2 Corinthians, Romans, 1 and 2 Timothy, and Titus. Focus on Paul’s prison letters (the books of Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon). Probe the mind of this man who, while incarcerated, addresses the early churches.

 

Understanding Christians World Missions

Pastor Ricky Georgetown – Instructor

Focus on the tenets of the Great Commission as applied to the needs of human beings through the world.

 

People of Color in the Bible

Rev. Edwin Robinson – Instructor

Identify those nations and personalities in the Bible who were people of color. Examine the contributions made by these individuals and groups.

 


 

Course Descriptions – Children (Infants to 6th Grade)

Theme:   “Being Real with God about My Behavior”

Subjects: The Children will go over three areas of behavior during the three day study: Bad Temper, Talking Back, and Lying.

 

Class 1. They will learn how to talk to God about each area of behavior.

Ms. Ariel Brown – Instructor – Member of Westside and currently pursuing her Masters. Presently serving as one of our Kingdom Connection 1st grade teachers.

 

Class 2. They will learn how to listen to God and hear what he wants them to do about their Behavior. John 10:27

Ms. Alexa Singleton – Instructor – Member of Westside from birth, and currently serving as one of our 4th grade teachers during Kingdom Connection.

 

Class 3. They will learn to do what God says and not just talk about it or listen and hear only. James 1:22

Ms. Cineada Davis – Instructor – Member of Westside, currently serving as one of our 1st grade teachers during Kingdom Connection Hour.

 

Pre-school – Kindergarten will have the same topics. And will be taught by Mrs. Deborah Benard, who is currently our Pre-school Director.

 


 

Course Descriptions – Youth (7th to 12th Grade)

Theme:  IT’S MY FAITH! The Youth Ministry will explore an in-depth 3 day study on the subject of Faith.

 

How to SHARE your Faith

Min. Michael Powell (Drill-Team Servant Leader & Youth Volunteer)

A study in the biblical, theological, and practical applications of evangelism, in which one can use for personal witnessing.

 

How to DEFEND your Faith

Min. Andre’ A. Kirkland, Youth Pastor 

A study into the authenticity (realness) of Christianity and the claims it makes, in order to stand firm on one’s belief.

 

How to LIVE OUT your Faith

Min. Nerissa Grigsby (EPIC Young Adult’s Servant Leader)

A study that will empower one to live boldly, according to how the Word of God has directed us as children of God.
