Andre’ A. Kirkland is a native of Shelby, MS. He accepted Christ at the age of seven, and served on the Usher Board throughout his childhood. Throughout high school he served as the church musician for the First Baptist Church in Mound Bayou, MS. He attended the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff (UAPB), where he also served as a church musician for the St. John AME Church. While in college he played football and was a Spring 2009 initiate to the Gamma Sigma Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. While in the fraternity, he served as Polemarch of the chapter and as an Undergraduate Board Member (Arkansas) for the Southwestern Province. He graduated from UAPB in May of 2011 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
After graduating college, he transitioned to Little Rock, AR, to pursue a Master degree in taxation, with the aspirations and hopes of going to law school. While in Little Rock, he joined St. Mark Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Phillip L. Pointer. On December 15, 2012, he accepted the call to the gospel ministry. Pastor Pointer licensed him to the gospel ministry on Dec. 1, 2013.
He previously served as Youth Pastor at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, located in Richardson, Texas, under the leadership of Senior Pastor Robert W. Townsend.
He holds a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, in Fort Worth, Texas. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy from Southwestern in Preaching.
He believes that a call to ministry is a call to prepare. He has dedicated his life and service to the gospel ministry. He is married to his lovely wife Shana, who is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity from Southwestern. They are expecting their first child in October.
